At the great 1900 World Exhibition in Paris a new art style was born, today known as Art Nouveau. The style exaggerated beauty in nature to emphasize its importance. The firm which dominated the new century's exhibition was Vever. Their famous design motif was the dramatic spreading wings.

This vivid art nouveau jewel accomplishes a stained glass effect by employing plique-a-jour (transparent) enamel spread over the wings with diamond borders centering a natural pearl surrounded by old cut diamond on gold.
